Love the Tub

This one and The Lady of the House were painted for the same client, a gift for the new lady in his life at the time. Every small thing in them is hers.

Love the Tub is later in the evening. Her clothes are on the bathroom floor with the red soled heels where she stepped out of them, and she is in the tub with the bubbles, a magazine in one hand and a glass in the other. Her love of a long bath and a good read, and the expensive champagne she favoured.
